Statement of Intent draft

Statement of intent

My TV adverts for 'The Devil’s channel' will establish a classic horror theme that aims towards the teenage audience. There will be certain intertextual references that remind the audience of their favourite horror movie. My vision will suit the target audience and scheduled time as it will take place at the evening to ensure no young children are viewing it. It will adhere to ASA guidelines because the advert will not compromise any of the rules that may offend people. I believe these adverts will be effective because it aims to bring back the classic horror theme while also adding new features to make it more entertaining. This will be done through locations, lighting and costume to make the adverts even more appealing.

One of the locations for one of the adverts will take place in the woods. I have used this location as it creates an eerie atmosphere at night time which will further add to the suspense. Suspenseful music will be added from classic horror movies to add to the atmosphere. Every advert will finish on a cliff-hanger so we don't see too much of the story.

The first advert will contain a character walking in the woods where they will be watching YouTube on their phone when an emergency broadcast will interrupt the video to announce a national zombie apocalypse outbreak. A zombie will then slowly sneak up on the character and I will use a point of view shot to show it.

The second advert will contain a character walking down a street at night time where they will receive a mysterious phone call from someone. The character will think it is a prank and proceed to walk until they see a dark figure with a mask on. The dark figure will then appear round a corner of the street about to attack the character where the screen will cut off leaving the audience on a cliff-hanger.

The third advert will contain two characters walking in the woods and then one of them walks off for a couple of minutes. The first character will then find their friend’s body and then a dark figure will rise up behind them in which the screen will be cut off to create suspense.

The fourth advert will contain two characters walking in a woods until they hear weird noises. I will use scenes from the movie predator to show something lurking in the trees. A stick will then snap behind them and there will be a close up of the characters face to see a reflection of something through the eyes of the character.

The four adverts will work well together to create a coherent brand identity because they will contain the same characters in the adverts which will help create an identity. There will also be a unique brand logo at the start of each advert to help promote it. My vision will suit the target audience and scheduled time as it will appeal to teenagers and appear on TV around 8:00.It will adhere to ASA guidelines because the adverts will not be misleading or offensive.

I believe these adverts will be effective because there will be intertextual references to many classic horror films which the audience will recognise while also adding a unique aspect of my channel.
